Bangladeshi fest screening ‘Mostafa’ from Iran

Iranian ‘Mostafa’ is vying at the int’l Short and Independent Film Festival Dhaka in Bangladesh.

Iranian short flick ‘Mostafa’ has been competing at the 16th edition of the International Short and Independent Film Festival Dhaka (ISIFF) in Bangladesh.

Directed by Alireza Teymouri, the short flick has been produced with the support of the South Regional Film Organization and the Swedish Institute Film.

Produced by Peyman Shahmohammadi, ‘Mostafa’ is a drama narrating the upsetting story of an immigrant family.

It tries to show how seeking refuge in another land is sometimes not a choice, but a compulsion.

Fariba Talebi, Masoumeh Jabbarnia, Majid Malekpour, Zeinab Hashemi, and Hassan Heidari are some of the cast members of the flick.

‘Mostafa’ is the recipient of the best short film and the best director awards at the 10th International Kolkata Short Film Festival in India.

The film has already taken part in a number of global events, including the Goteborg International Film Festival in Sweden, the Cannes Film Festival in France, the Gandhara Independent Film Festival in Pakistan, the Cheongju International Short Film Festival in South Korea, and the Cefalù Film Festival in Italy.

Launched in 1988, the ISIFF is one of the oldest festivals in Bangladesh.

Films from 130 countries are participating in the festival.

The 16th edition of the event is being held on February 25-March 4.
